Damon Carson, founder & president of repurposedMATERIALS headlined our ILEA Denver January event in what became a surprisingly thought-provoking and creativity-stimulating experience. Damon’s company buys and resells materials that would otherwise find their way to a landfill. His ever-changing warehouse (open for tours upon request) contains treasures like used parachutes, elevator handrails from Denver International Airport, bales of burlap, used street sweeping brushes from Aurora, and so much more. His realm of clients across the country is limited only by their imagination for re-purposing the products he offers.
A round of “Name that Repurpose” tested the imagination improv skills of Sandy Routzon (Halo Productions), Angela Coleman (KPMG), and Danny Findley (AXS Group), an all-star creative cast who helped us look at tractor tires, massive plastic container boxes, and used turf in fresh innovative ways.
Felicity Day of Lissy Allyse Designs specializes in re-purposing materials by incorporating them in her floral designs. She not only contributed stunning centerpieces made from recycled materials, but her prowess in guessing 3 of the 4 re-usable materials on display in “Guess What” also won her a couch donated by Ashley & CORT Events in the spirit of re-purposing! Check it out in her new Littleton office space or on her blog about the event: ILEA Event
This “out of the box” event was hosted by Villa Parker, a Mediterranean estate property just south of Denver that boasts a lengthy list of awards in the wedding realm. Between elegant ivory arches, a festive display of fajita fare from The Culinary Wave was heartily enjoyed at tables adorned in Event Rents linen.
We are honored to have Colorado Meetings & Events as a year-long sponsor as well. Great job to Wilhelmina Ripple, CSEP, Veronica Davis, Dovie Foster, Katie Sullivan, and the whole Programs & Education team for bringing this innovative topic to the event community.
