ILEA Denver is now accepting nominations for our 2015/2016 Board of Directors.

Who is eligible to be on the ILEA Denver Board?

Any member in good standing may be nominated (or nominate themselves) to serve as an elected Officer or Director of the Chapter. Student members, however, are not eligible to serve.

How does the nomination process work?

The Nominating Committee is charged with reviewing all nominations and selecting the nominees who will lead ILEA Denver as the 2015/2016 Board of Directors. This slate will be presented to the members of ILEA Denver on May 18, 2015. ILEA Denver membership will have until May 28, 2015 to petition this slate with changes. If you do not respond, it is automatically assumed you vote in favor of these nominees.

Why should I be a board member?

You should be a Board Member if you believe in promoting the ILEA Denver values of Creativity, Inspiration, Teamwork, Education, and Relationships. You should be a Board Member if you believe that ILEA Denver has a positive impact on our industry and helps to raise the ethical and professional standards of the Event Industry in Colorado. You should be a Board Member if you want to work side-by-side with other leaders in our industry to help ILEA Denver grow and to help our industry grow.

What offices are available? How many board members?

The ILEA Denver Board is made up of 13 members:

  • VP of Programs & Education
  • VP of Membership,
  • VP of Communications

What do Board Members do?

Board members are expected to attend all board meeting and make decisions regarding the future of ILEA Denver. They are expected to attend out-of-state training, as well as 2 board retreats. In addition, board members are expected to chair committees and take the lead on various projects throughout the year.

How much time will this take?

Time commitment will depend on your office and the committees you serve on, but 4-8 hours per month is an estimate.

Who is the ideal candidate?

  • Allocate an adequate amount of time to fulfill their commitment.
  • Have a sufficient background of the organization to understand issues put before the Board.
  • Develop an unbiased approach to decision making.
  • Have the ability to attend and participate in board meetings and committee meetings regularly.
  • Be available to attend ILEA International Leadership Trainings and Conferences.
  • Possess good and effective communication skills.
  • Be able to approach situations in a diplomatic manner.
